Aracaju
is the capital of Sergipe, the lesser Brazilian State. On
the seaside, it has beautiful beaches, such as Atalaia Nova
on Santa Luzia island, and the continent lively beach Robalo.
The city offers sailings, museums and an oceanarium. Its party
São João is famous, known as Forró Caju.
During the event, thousands of tourists visit the city attracted
by dance exhibitions from squadrons and popular music. Near,
there is a Projeto Tamar (Tamar Project) base, an entity that
aims the sea turtles preservation. There are several restaurants
that serve the most typical dish of the region - the salted
meat.
INFRASTRUCTURE
The most hotels on the city are on Atalaia beach. From the
more comfortable and well equipped till the simpler and cheaper
inns. On other ones, and even on Santa Luiza island, there
are many accommodation options. Beyond regional food, the
restaurants have many different specialties, especially prepared
with fish and seafood. The city has many bank agencies, car
rental and tourism agencies.
HOW TO GET THERE
You
can get to Aracaju by airplane or by bus departing from the
main Brazilian capitals. It's 340 Km far from Salvador or
290 Km far from Maceió, the nearest capitals to the
south and to the north, by the road BR - 101. |
