In
the center of Brazilian's territory is one of the most originals
cities of the world, Brasilia. It's created by Lúcio
Costa architect and inaugurated in 1960, the federal capital
is one of the few modernist urban projects that get rid of
the small planks to become reality. It has a bird format in
which the body and big open wings are two large perpendicular
shafts.
On Brasilia is located Brazilian federal department and political
power. The main departments of executive power, legislature
and judiciary occupies buildings designed by architects of
international renown, among them is Oscar Niemeyer. This combination
of plain city, which shows off real art handiworks from modern
architecture exposed in large spaces, gives to the city a
unique scenery of the world.
At Eixo Monumental (Monumental Shaft), the large avenue forms
a bird body and houses Praça dos Três Poderes
(Três Poderes Public Square), Esplanada dos Ministérios,
the Cathedral, museums and monuments. The wings shaft, formed
by several parallels roads, houses residential Super-Quadras
and commerce and services sectors. At peninsulas that go in
Paranoá artificial lagoon, are located residential
sectors, big houses and embassies.
Although lines, which compose the original city plane, have
been preserved, administrative demands and population growth
require urbanistic changes. Many appendages were incorporated
to main buildings. Even with the existence of viaducts that
eliminates streets and avenues crossroads, the increasing
of vehicles traffic obligated signals installation to control
it in some city points.
But Brasilia isn't only a bold architecture great exposition,
which gave to the city the title of Cultural Patrimony of
Humanity by Unesco. The buildings are included in immense
gardens and there are parks, such as Parque da Cidade (City
Park) and Parque Nacional de Brasília (Brasilia National
Park). It has a lot of museums and theaters. Its restaurants,
offering since Brazilian regional dishes to the international
high-level dishes, are the best on the country. The nightlife
has complete and animated bars. Establishments with high international
pattern are part of the large number of hotels.
INFRASTRUCTURE
The hotels are very different, with high standard options
pertaining to international companies. Most of the hotels
are located at south and north hotel sectors, near the center
(conjunction of two shafts that form the city). Brasilia is
equipped with modern services and communications structure.
